                      ORDER EXTENDIN SERVICE REQUIREMENT

By Order 82-12-70, dated December 16, 1982, the Board (1) allowed Kodiak-
Western Alaska Airlines to suspend service at 21 communities in Alaska effec-
tive January 3, 1983; (2) prohibited Kodiak-Western Alaska fran suspending
service at the 18 other communities for 30 days through February 3, 1983, and
requested proposals at those 18 points; (3) dismissed Wien Air Alaska's notices
at 4 cormunities; (4) took no action to prohibit Wien's suspension at Prudhoe
Bay; (5) prohibited Wien Air-Alaska from suspending  service at 6 comunities;
and (6) requested the state's views on proposals involving alternate aircraft
sizes at those 6 communities. Proposals for the 18 points on Kodiak's system
were due on February 7 and Sea Airmotive and Kodiak-Western have both filed.
Community coments on aircraft size for Wien's points were received on January
31. Order 83-3-117, dated March 24, 1983, requested proposals at the six
points on notice by Wien. The due date for those proposals has been extended
until June 13, 1983.

Inasmuch as we are reviewing the proposals for the Kodiak cluster and pro-
posals are not due for the other six points until June 13, we will not be able
to complete the carrier selection process at the 24 cammunities before the
expiration of the current hold-in period, June 3, 1983. Therefore, in accor-
dance with section 419, we will require Wien Air Alaska to continue to main-
tain essential air service at the 6 ccmmunities listed in ordering paragraph
1 and Kodiak-Western Alaska Airlines at the 18 coammunities listed in ordering
