Notice of intent of

RANSOME AIR, INC., d/b/a Docket 34666
RANSOME AIRLINES

to terminate service at Catskill/
Sullivan County, New York

                   ORDER EXTENDING SERVICE OBLIGATION

By Order 79-11-110, November 15, 1979, we selected Merrimack
Airlines d/b/a New Jersey Airways to provide essential air service
at Catskill/Sullivan County, New York. Although we anticipated that the
replacement service would be inaugurated by now, New Jersey Airways
has not commenced the operations as of this time. Therefore, under
section 419 of the Act, we have been requiring USAir and Ransome to
continue to provide the service until replacement service meeting
our essential air service level is being provided. By Order 80-1-7
we extended USAir and Ransome's service obligation for an additional
30 days, through February 2, 1980. Since replacement service may
not be provided at Sullivan County by February 2, under authority
delegated by the Board in the Board's Regulations 14 CFR 385.14,
we will require USAir and Ransome to continue to provide service
at Catskill/Sullivan County in accordance with Order 79-4-178 for
an additional 30 days, through March 3, 1980, or until the replace-
ment service is inaugurated, whichever occurs first.l/

I/ By ordering paragraph 3 of Order 79-11-110, USAir and Ransome
are required to be available, for an additional 30-day period after
New Jersey Airways inaugurates service at or above the essential
air service level, to resume service at Catskill/Sullivan County
if, for any reason, New Jersey Airways fails to provide the
essential air service. Should it be necessary for USAir and Ransome
to resume service, we will issue an order directing them to do so.
