Notice of intent of

YUKCN AIR SERVICE, INC. : Docket 41634

 to suspend service at five
 camunities in Alaska, under
 section 419 of the Federal
 Aviation Act of 1958, as
 amended

                      ORDER EXTENDING SERVICE REQUIREMENT

By Order 83-10-6, dated October 4, 1983, the Board required Yukon Air
Service d/b/a Air North to continue providing essential air transportation at
Birch Creek, CQandalar, Circle Hot Springs, Minto and Wiseman, Alaska, for a
30-day period through December 6, 1983, and initiated a review of the ccm-
munities' essential air service determinations as a first step of processing,
if needed, a carrier selection case. In accordance with section 419 of the
Act, we have extended the carrier's service obligation for successive 30-day
periods, as necessary, to ensure the continuation of service at these cam-
munities while we omplete the essential air service cases. The most recent
extension, through August 2, 1984, was issued by Order 84-7-1, dated July 2,
1984.

We are awaiting the State's views on the essential air service require-
ments at the five camunities.

Since we will not have campleted this case prior to the expiration of Air
North's current service obligation, in accordance with the provisions of
section 419 of the Act, we will extend the carrier's service obligation
requirements for an additional 30-day period, through September 1, 1984, or
until a fit, willing and able carrier has been found to be capable of
inaugurating and maintaining reliable essential air service, whichever occurs
first.

     ACCORDINGLY,

     1. We require Yukon Air Service, Inc. d/b/a Air North to maintain
essential air service at Birch Creek, Chandalar, Circle Hot Springs, Minto and
Wiseman, Alaska, for an additional period of 30 days from August 3, 1984,
through September 1, 1984, or until a fit, willing, and able carrier capable of
providing reliable service inaugurates service meeting the essential air
service requirements, whichever occurs first;
