       Application of

BONANZA AIR LINES, INC. : Docket 17712

for exemption pursuant to section 416(b)
* of the Federal Aviation Act of 1958
       ---------------------- - --

                              ORDER GRANTING EXEMPTION

In Orders E-24025, E-24094, E-24122 and E-24145 the Board granted
various airlines 2/ exemption authority to transport an unspecified number
of travel agents at a 75 percent discount for domestic travel from all
A points on an individual basis to and from the annual fall convention of the
American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) which will be held in Seattle,
Washington October 2-8, 1966. The Board granted the exemption during the
period September 24 through October 15, 1966, thus allowing one additional
week each before and after the convention to allow the individual agents
to take side trips. Bonanza. Air Lines, Inc., has filed an application seek-
* ing similar authority to transport travel agents to the ASTA convention
* during the period September 24 through October 15, 1966.

In support of its application, the carrier states that the discount
will encourage agents to attend the convention and thus familiarize them-
selves with the Seattle area as well as with the latest developments and
marketing opportunities in air travel, which will be reviewed at the con-
venticn; that grant of the discount will contribute to the Discover
America program; and that the railroads have already announced they will
offer all members of ASTA and their dependents a. discount on travel to
and from the convention and the airlines should participate in a similar
       program.
