The Committee on Banking and Financial Services, to whom was
referred the bill (H.R. 2406) to repeal the United States Housing
Act of 1937, deregulate the public housing program and the pro-
gram for rental housing assistance for low-income families, and in-
crease community control over such programs, and for other pur-
poses, having considered the same, report favorably thereon with
an amendment and recommend that the bill as amended do pass.
The amendment is as follows:
Strike out all after the enacting clause and insert in lieu thereof
the following:
SECTION 1. SHORT TITLE AND TABLE OF CONTENTS.
(a) SHORT TITLE.-This Act may be cited as the United States Housing Act of
1996.
