submitted the following
REPORT.
[To accompany 8. 1478.]
The Committee on Public Buildings and Grounds, to whom was
referred the bill (S. 1478) for the erection of a public building at
Marblehead, Mass., having considered the same, report it back with
amendments and recommend that the bill do pass.
The population of Marblehead is about 8,000. The Treasury esti-
mates that a building of fireproof construction necessary for the
transaction of the public business at Marblehead could be erected for
$60,000, and that one of nonfireproof construction could be erected
for $55,000, and that a site could be secured for $15,000.
Your committee believes that the appropriation carried by the bill,
$50,000, is sufficient for the present needs.
