  INTERIOR,  SUBMITTING   AN  ESTIMATE   OF APPROPRIATION FOR
  CERTAIN   DEFICIENCIES.

  SIm: I have the honor to transmit herewith, for the consideration of
Congress, copy of a communication from the Secretary of the Interior
of this date, submitting the following estimates of deficiencies in ap-
propriations under control of the Department of the Interior:
Salaries and commissions of registers and receivers, fiscal year 1900 ..... $30, 000.00
Reindeer for Alaska, fiscal year 1898 --------------------------------1,133.53
Payment to W. Bertrand Acker for services--------------.............  974.20
     Total--------------------------------------------------- 32,107.73

                             DEPARTMENT   OF THE  INTERIOR,
                                  Washington, December 90, 1900.
   SIR: I have the honor to transmit herewith the following deficiency
estimates of appropriations for the fiscal year 1901 and prior years, viz:
Reindeer for Alaska, 1898: To pay the account of Hobbs, Wall & Co., of
  San Francisco, Cal., for transportation of herders and supplies from
  Seattle, Wash., to reindeer stations in Alaska.---------------------- $1,133.53
Payment to W. Bertrand Acker for services as private secretary to the
  Secretary of the Interior from November 25, 1898, to April 30, 1899-.-  974.20
Salaries and commissions, registers and receivers, 1900: To enable the
  accounting officers of the Treasury to pay the unsettled balances found
  due registers and  receivers.......................................... 30,000.00
