                      HANNAH R. JOHNSON.

MARC 28, 1900.-Committed to the Committee of the Whole House and ordered
                              to be printed.

Mr. GBSON, from the Committee on Invalid Pensions, submitted the
                               following

                            REPORT.

                          (To accompany S. 755.]

The Committee on Invalid Pensions, to whom was referred the bill
(S. 755) granting a pension to Hannah R. Johnson, have examined the
same and adopt the Senate report thereon and recommend that the
bill do pass.

[Senate Report No. 278, Fifty-sixth Congress, first session.]
This bill proposes to grant a pension of $25 per month to Hannah R. Johnson, widow
of Maj. John Cockrell Johnson, late One hundred and tenth Pennsylvania Volunteer
Infantry
This officer was enrolled September 12, 1861, and served as major of the One hun-
dred and tenth Pennsylvania Volunteers until June 16, 1862, when he was discharged
for disability (congestion of the liver) of a chronic nature. His widow is 68 years of
age, and was married to him in 1860. She applied for a pension under the act of June
27, 1890, which claim was rejected. This officer served gallantly in the field while
able to do so, but was discharged for disability incurred in the line of his duty. His
widow is now 68 years of age and seems to be entitled to a pension from the Govern-
ment such as officers of the grade of her husband receive, $25 per month.
The committee therefore recommend that the bill pass.
