                         TRANSMITTING
 CERTAIN PAPERS RELATIVE TO THE GRANTING OF LEAVE OF
 ABSENCE TO STOREKEEPERS AND OTHER EMPLOYEES IN THE
 INTERNAL-REVENUE SERVICE.

                                IWashington, January 18, 1905.
  SIR: Referring to Department letter of January 20, 1904, transmit-
ting to you certain papers relative to the granting of leave of absence
to storekeepers and other employees in the Internal-Revenue Service,
which were received from the Commissioner of Internal Revenue with
favorable recommendation that the petition of these employees be
granted and that bill H. R. 1231 so providing be passed, I have the
honor to transmit herewith, with favorable recommendation, further
petitions praying for the passage of the bill.
