  IN THE   CASE  OF FREDERICK S. CORBETT AND HENRY C. COR-
  BETT,  ADMINISTRATORS OF SEWELL B. CORBETT, DECEASED,
  AGAINST   THE   UNITED   STATES.

   Sm:  Pursuant to the order of the court I transmit herewith a certified
 copy of the findings of fact filed by the court in the aforesaid cause,
 which case was referred to this court by the resolution of the House
 of Representatives, under  the act of March   3, 1887, known  as the
 Tucker Act.

                           BTATEMENT OF CASE.

   The claim in the above-entitled case for the use and occupation of real estate in
 Alexandria County, State of Virginia, and for stores and supplies alleged to have
 been taken by or furnished to the military forces of the United States for their use
 during the war for the suppression of the rebellion, was transmitted to the court by
 resolution of the House of Representatives on the 16th day of January, 1903, under
 the provisions of the act of March 3, 1887, commonly known as the Tucker Act.
   The case was brought to a hearing on loyalty and merits on the 27th day of May,
 1903, Holmes Conrad, esq., appeared for the claimants, and the Attorney-General, by
 Louis A. Pradt and F. W. Collins, esqs., his assistants, and under his direction,
 appeared for the defense and protection of the interests of the United States.
   The claimants, in their petition, allege in substance:
   That they are citizens of the United States and residents of Alexandria County,
 State of Virginia, where decedent resided during the war of the rebellion, and who
 was the owner in fee simple of a farm containing 300 acres of land lying and being in the
 county of Alexandria and State of Virginia; that about 220 acres of said farm were
