     FOG   SIGNAL AT BATTERY POINT, WASHINGTON.



FEBRUARY 5, 1902.-Committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the state
                  of the Union and ordered to be printed.



Mr.  Coorns,  from  the Committee   on  Interstate and  Foreign  Com-
                   merce,  submitted the following

                           REPORT.

                        [To accompany H. R. 73.]

  The  Committee  on Interstate and Foreign  Cgmmerce,   to whom  was
referred the bill (H. R. 73) to establish a fog signal at Battery Point,
State of  Washington   beg leave to submit  the following  report  and
recommend   that said bill do pass without amendment.
  This is a bill enacting that a fog signal be established and constructed
at Battery Point, State of Washington,  at a cost not to exceed $6,000.
  This bill was referred to the Treasury Department  and was returned
with the approval  of the Treasury Department,   as will be seen by the
following letter:
                       TREASURY DEPARTMENT, OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY,
                                            Vahington, December 28, 1901.
  SIR: This Department has the honor to acknowledge the receipt of a letter from
your committee, dated December 26, 1901, inclosing for suggestions a copy of H. R.
73, authorizing the establishment of a fog signal at Battery Point, Puget Sound,
Washington.
  In reply the Department states that the matter was referred to the Light-House
Board, which reports that the following recommendation, made in its annual
reports for the last six years, is renewed on page 209 in its annual report for 1901.
  175. Battery Point, Washingon.-The following recommendation, made in the
Board's last six annual reports, is renewed:
    'The establishment of a fog signal at this point is strongly urged. Itis estimated
that a fog bell, with suitable dwelling, grounds, etc., could be erected for $6,000,
and it is recominended that an appropriation of this amount be made therefor.' 
  This Department therefore has the honor to state that it concurs with the Board
in this recommendation.
