                         TRANSMITTING,
WITH A DRAFT OF A JOINT RESOLUTION, RECOMMENDATIONS
  IN REGARD TO PRINTING REPORT ON TESTING HYDRAULIC
  CEMENTS.

JANUARY 6, 1902.-Referred to 'the Committee on Printing and ordered to be
                           printed.

                              Washington, December 28, 1901.
  SIR: I have the honor to transmit herewith, for the consideration
of the Committee on Printing, a letter from the Chief of Engineers,
United States Army, dated December 20 instant, calling attention to
the importance of having printed 1,000 additional copies of the Report
of a Board of Engineer Officers on Testing Hydraulic Cements, now
limited to 1,000 copies, which number is insufficient to meet the
demand.
  A draft of a joint resolution to accomplish the above purpose is
inclosed herewith, and favorable consideration is recommended.

  SI: Under date of June 19, 1901, authority was granted this office
by the Secretary of War to publish a report of a Board of Engineer
Officers on Testing Hydraulic Cements, copy herewith. This report
has proved of great value to the engineering profession at large, and
the edition of 1,000 copies printed has been neaRly exhausted within
      H D-57-1-Vol 70-1
