   DEFENSE OFFICER PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT ACT


   JUNE  24, 1976.-Committed to the Committee of the Whole House on the
              State of the Union and ordered to be printed


       Mr. SMATeroN, from the Committee on Armed Services,
                     submitted the following

                          REPORT
   (Including the cost estimate of the Congressional Budget Office)
                     [To accompany H.R. 13958]

  The  Committee on Armed  Services, to whom was referred the bill
  (H.R. 13958) to amend titles 10 and 37, United States Code, relating
to the appointment, promotion, separation, and retirement of members
of the armed  forces, and for other purposes, having considered the
same, report favorably thereon with amendments and recommend that
the bill as amended do pass.
  The amendments  are as follows:
  Page  6, line 29, strike 21 and insert in lieu thereof 18.
  Page 7, line 10, insert a comma following the word dental.
  Page  7, line 15, strike usual and insert in lieu thereof unusual.
  Page  7, line 17, following the word credit strike the word for
and insert in lieu thereof the word of.
  Page 7, line 24, following the word discipline strike the word for
and insert in lieu thereof the word from.
  Page 8, line 21, insert a period following the quotation marks at the
end of the line.
  Page 8, between lines 27 and 28, in the new items being added in the
chapter analysis and the chapter analysis of part II, strike the semi-
colon appearing after the word List and insert a colon in lieu thereof.
  Page 9, on lines 22 and '23, strike the words whichever is earlier.
as they now  appear and insert the same words flush with the left
margin of line 23.
  Page  10, in the listing of the section titles of the proposed new
chapter 36:
      (a) In the section title for section 630, strike the semicolon fol-
    lowing  (Navy)  and insert a colon in lieu thereof.
      (b) In the section title for section 631, insert for following
    the word selection.
