Bout Nine of the Clock in the morning, the Under-Sheriff M.Cbarls Evans came to the Cellar in' the Goal, where the Gentlemei were kept, and immediatly a Smith was fent tor to take off their Irons, which were fo hard let on, that the Smith was above al hour in taking off Mr. Evans's alone, which, was not done without great' pain to him; notwithitanding which he never gave the leaft figne of Impa- tience or trouble, but encouraged the Man to go on with his work, with- out fear of hurting him : When they were brought out of the Cellar, they defired to walk on foot to the place of Execution, but were refufed, and put both upoh one Cart ; their arms pinnioned; all the way reading in their Books. When they arrived at the place of Execution, they followed St. Andreirs Example, fiiying, Welcamegood Croft, and falling upon their knees, kiffed the Poff of the Gallows, and remained praying there a good: while: When they had done, they asked which was to die firfl, the Sheriff, anfwered, Mr. Evans; He bowing; fpake theti few words.
