AGAINST
JUDGE HENRY MANEY.
The Joint Special Committee appointed by the Leo-isla-
ture of the State of Texas, consisting of Senators A. Brad-
shaw, L. D. Bradley and J. E. Dwyer, on the part of the
Senate, and Representatives W. V. Henderson, L. S. Law-
hon, W. L. Moody and H. O'Neal, on the part of the
House, met in committee room, in the Capitol, February
27, 1874, and organized by electing Senator A. Bradshaw
chairman of same ; when the following proceedings were
had, to-wit:
I.
ADDRESS.
To His Excellency Rickard Coke, Governor:
The Senate of the State of Texas, the House of Repre-
sentatives concurring herein, do address your Excellency,
and make known the fact that one Henry Maney, who
now holds the office of district judge of the twenty-sec-
ond judicial district, is unfit to hold said office; and we,
the Senate and House of Representatives, request that
said Maney be removed from said office, for the reasons
following, to-wit, reserving herein the right to add addi-
tional causes for such removal:
1. Because, on the twenty seventh day of April, 1872,
said judge presided at a political meeting, at which the
legality of a question then pending before him as judge,
