great anxiety or mind and contrition
ofheart. No tongue can describe
their misery! As the fatal day ap-
pcoached, tlhy seemed more sensibly
to realize the awful nature of their
crime and itspenalty than they had
done before, and to all reasonable
questions they seemed willing to re-
ply. Nelson once said, to a person
who visited them in prison a few days
before the execution, that they had
no other excuse to plead in extenua-
tion of their crimo, than the fact, that
Love had obtained almost all of their
property for small favors, which he
had granted them, and then threaten-
ed to take it from them and send hem
to State's Prison besides. He added.E

And share the nurderer's shameful death. I Divert yo'u minds frotm visdom's road. His own neglect in former Years.
How awful (toes their state appear! ' We, like you, are young in ,ears-- Ye parents blest with children dear,
Condemined to leave their childr;-n dear- i But just have left a mother's iear :  f 0! teach tlian young, God's word to fear;
Forego their tender wives' embrace, fThat m pther who is dooni'd to, see Let licty he strong ilnprest,
And (lie in misery and disgrace Her children die in infamy And vice will shun the youthlll breast.
And now behold them kneeling low, 1 Tire gallo s now mast end our days. Had I been taught'1e16 truds in time,

And own theirl.ax nteuce jist. 4Where all must lCet their final doom. 'To cursc thei parent, Ibr their death.
We long had plann'd the tatal deed, Oh, Jesus'! hear our earnest (ries! 'On me alone rests all the blame-
And on the horrid crime agreed ; 'Ou thee or only hope relies i'Twas I who 4;argd them up lbr shame,
And none excpt the eve above No human aid can luIp its. now, rwas I Nvho taiight them in their youth,
To view our deeds, we murdered Lovel! To thee alone ie tremblieg how. ITo disregard tile words of truth.
With hcai tsas hard as Devils have. Had we been taught o read thy word, t1w heo)avily am I repaid,
We hollowed out the shallowv grave' The record of our murdered Lord, BV truth how much is sit outweigli'd
And vainly hop'd n ) hunn eye 'he awful crime that boxa u dow, soul in so much bonud up,
Would e'er the mangled corpse espy. Our guilty souls had never known. Can scarcely look to hcav'n for 1qpe.
What feelings then our souls possest! Left to indulge in sin and lies, Once more I say to all beware,
No snbtcrfiige could yicld us rest, Thy holy Sabbath to despis, Avoid siass death-alhlriug sneare
In dreamis we saw his ghastly wounds, No wonder that the auiul fate aLet every thouaht, and iiord, and dc&I,
