D. 1877, has been, the Sheriff of the City and County of New York, with neglect of daty in office, with malversation in office, and with extortion,. First.-In this, to wit, upon information and be- lief: That the administration and management of the common jail, in said city and county are, and, ever since the first day of January, A.
