Between HENRY H. COGGSHALL, Plaintiff, and SETH H.
BUTLER, Defendant.
To the Honorable the Judges of said Court.
Your orator complains and says:
I. That on the first day of March, 1860, I gave to said
defendant my promissory note dated the same day at three
months, for the sum of $5,000.
That in January, 1861, I also gave to defendant, as col-
lateral security for said note, the following:
$2000 bonds of the Bloomsburg and Lackawanna Railroad
Company.
$675 of preferred stock of the Bloomsburg and Lacka-
wanna Railroad Company.
$1000 bonds of Hopewell Coal and Iron Company.
$5000 of Hartford Coal Company stock.
$2000 of Richmond and Schuylkill Passenger Railway
bonds.
II. That said collateral securities were, at that time, and
have ever since been worth, at least, the sum of $5000.
III. That said $5000 note given to defendant was not
paid at its maturity, and suit was commenced by said defen-
dant against me, in this honorable Court to March Term,
