In pursuance of a resolution of the Assembly, of which the following is a copy: WHEREAS, The Committee on Appropriations ii the report made this House February 25th, in effect confirm the findings of the Committee of Experts appointed by this ifouse, that a profit of one hundred thousand dollars or more has been made in the contract for the new ceiling and staircase ; and WHEREAS, It has not yet been ascertained into what channels said money has gone; and WHEREAS, The public press and public sentiment demand that a thorough investigation be made to ascertain the facts in the case ; therefore, be it Resolved, That h special committee of seven members of this House, to consist of Messrs. Fish, Aspinall, McMaster, King, Creamer, George H. Bash and McCann, be and is hereby appointed for the :purpose of a thorough investigation of all questions connected with the construction of the Assembly ceil- ing and staircase; with power to send for persons and papers. Said committee is authorized to employ a stenographer and such counsel, accountants and experts, as it may deem necessary to make such investigation thorough and effective, and to report to this House, on or before March 14th, such recommendations as,
