ACTS PASSED AT BENNINGTON IN FEBRUARY
SESSION 1782
AN ACT FOR THE PURPOSE OF PAYING TO MAJOR BROWNSON
A SUM OF MONEY THEREIN MENTIONED
FEBRUARY 13TH 1782
Be it enacted, and it is hereby enacted, by the Representatives of
the freemen of the State of Vermont, in General Assembly met, and by
the Authority of the same, that the word VERMONT be inserted in a
Blank left by Joseph Nourse, Register to the Treasury of Congress, in
an Account settled by Congress with Major Gideon Brownson of this
State, and by him exhibited to this Assembly; in which Account there
appears to be due to the said Brownson, six hundred and sixteen
Dollars, and sixty ninetyeth parts of a Dollar in Specie, for Deprecia-
tion from the sixteenth day of July one thousand seven hundred and
seventy nine, to the first day of August one thousand seven hundred
and eighty: And that an Order issue to the Treasury of this State, to
pay the said Brownson the sum aforesaid.
AN ACT DISCHARGING THE TOWN OF POMFRET FROM A CERTAIN PART
OF THEIR QUOTA OF PROVISION THEREIN DESCRIBED
FEBRUARY 13TH 1782
Whereas the General Assembly of this State at their Sessions in
October 1780 did doom the town of Pomfret to a pay a Provision tax
of three hundred and twenty seven pounds of Flour, one hundred and
nine pounds of Beef, fifty four pounds and an half of Pork, nine
Bushels of Indian Corn, and four Bushels and an half of Rye, more
than their Proportion, as since appears by the sum total of their List;
the Assembly at that time not ,.: wing the Benefit thereof. And Whereas
by an after Act of Assembly, provision was made, that such towns,
paying their just Proportion, should be discharged from the Overplus.
And Whereas there is an Execution granted against the Selectmen of
said Town of Pomfret, for the whole of their said Provision tax, in-
cluding the Overplus aforesaid. Therefore,
