AN ACT to amend Chapter 158 of the Private Acts of 1945; as amended by
Chapter 257 of the Private Acts of 1957; Chapter 316 of the Private Acts of 1980;
Chapter 6 of the Private Acts of 1987; and any other acts amendatory thereto, relative to
the Town of Tracy City.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Chapter 158 of the Private Acts of 1945, as amended by Chapter
257 of the Private Acts of 1957, Chapter 316 of the Private Acts of 1980, Chapter 6 of
the Private Acts of 1987, and any other acts amendatory thereto, is amended by deleting
Section 5 in its entirety and by substituting instead the following:
SECTION 5.
ELECTIONS
Section 1. Mayor and Aldermen.
On the second Tuesday in April 2010 there shall be a city
election to elect a Mayor and four (4) Aldermen. The Mayoral candidate
receiving the largest number of votes shall be elected to serve a
transitional period until the first Tuesday after the first Monday in
November of 2014. Thereafter a Mayor shall be elected every four (4)
years. The two (2) Aldermanic candidates receiving the largest number
of votes shall be elected to serve a transitional period until the first
Tuesday after the first Monday in November of 2014. There shall be a
city election on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November
2014, and every four (4) years thereafter, to fill the Aldermanic seats
expiring In November 2014.
The two (2) Aldermanic candidates receiving the third and fourth
largest number of votes shall be elected to serve a transitional period
until the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November, 2012. There
will be a city election on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in
November 2012, and every four (4) years thereafter to fill the
Aldermanic seats expiring In November, 2012. All officials thus elected
shall serve until their successors are elected and qualified.
