A                        CHAP-
(a) This a& provided for the raifing of a company, in addition to four that had
been raifed under the authority of a refolution of the General Affembly of the z3d
of December, 1780, for the defence of a part of Northampton county, the counties of
Bedford, Northumberland, Welimoreland and Wafhington, and the diftri& of Armagh,
in Cumberland county. It,, likewife, authorifed the commiflioners to exonerate flor
taxes fich of the inhabitants of thofe counties as were driven from their fettlements by
the enemy, or flhould fland in defence of the frontiers ; and requires a lilt of the per-
fons exonerated to be returned to the legiflature.  ee likewile an a&, among other
things, granting certain indulgencies to the fettlers on the north-wcft frontier, paffed
16th September, 1785.
