AN ACT to aread an Act, entitled  An ./Jct for the 6etter Governmenf
of the City of'New.-York, and to grant certain additional Powverm and
Rig/hts to the Mfayor, .Ildernief and (unionalty thereof, and to ex.
plain, continue and amend the respfective .,lcts therein inentioned, piass-
ed 2d Apiril, 1806.
Passed January 26, 1808.
B   E it enacted by the Peolle qf;he State of New-York, represented in
Senate and Assembly, That it shall and may be lawful for the
mayor, aldermen and commonalty of the city of New-York, to reserve
all that partof the water adjacent to the wharves of said city, from the
cast sidce of Coenties' slip to the west side of Whitehall slip, for tho
sole accommodation of sloops and other market vessels using the trade
of the said city, from the 20th of Maich until the 20th of Decehibe ,
in each and every year ; and that during the time aforesaid, no regis-
tered or sea vessel shall be suffered to use the slips or wharves within
the above described limits, without special permission, any law, usage
or custom to the contrary notwithstanding.

AN ACT in Addition to the .Act, entitled  .An Act for giving Relief in.
Cases of Insolvency.
Pmsed February 5, 1808.
B   E it enacted by the People of the State of New-York, rep resented in;
Senate and Alssembly, That whenever upon the application of any
insolvent debtor, or his creditors, day has been given or shall be given
by the recorder of the city of New-York, or any commissioner author-
ized by law to attend before him, for any of the purposes specified in
the act, entitled  an act fbr giving relief in cases of insolvency,
it shall and may be lawful, in case of the death, sickness, absence,
resignation or removal from office of the said recorder or commission-
cr, for the chancellor or any judge of the supreme court, or for the
successor in office to such recorder or commissioner, to discharge the
duties required by the said act, in like manner as might have been
done by the said recorder or commissioner before whom day way have
been given as aforesaid.
