Chapter 215
1                                AN ACT
2    RELATING TO ADMINISTRATION OF PROPERTY TAXES; REQUIRING USE OF
3    GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION SYSTEMS.
5    BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
6         Section 1. Section 7-38-9 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1973,
7    Chapter 258, Section 49) is amended to read:
8         7-38-9. DESCRIPTION OF PROPERTY FOR PROPERTY TAXATION
9    PURPOSES.--
10              A. Property shall be described for property
11    taxation purposes by a description sufficiently adequate and
12   accurate to identify it. Real property shall be described
13   under a uniform system of real property description in
14    accordance with regulations of the department. The department
15   shall promulgate regulations establishing a uniform system of
16   real property description to be used by the department and all
17    assessors. The system shall include requirements for a
18   comprehensive mapping or geographic information system, the
19   use of uniform property record documents and uniform coding of
20    real property descriptions.
21               B. Real property that has been valued for property
22    taxation purposes prior to the effective date of the Property
23    Tax Code by a description consisting of a mere reference to
24    the time and place of filing or recording in the office of the
25    county clerk of any map or other instrument describing the
