CHAPTER 2072.

AN ACT providing for the registration of births,
and deaths.

SECTION
1. Clerks of towns and cities to record
and make returns of births, mar-
riages and deaths.
2. Secretary of state to receive, file and
preserve returns, and furnish blanks
therefor. What record to show.
3. Persons solemnizing marriages      to
make records and returns thereof.
4. Selectmen and assessors to ascertain,
record, and return statistics of births

SECTION
and deaths. Physicians to record
deaths and return the same to se-
lectmen.
5. Penalty for violating provisions of
act.
6. Town or city clerk's record of birth,
marriage or death, prima facie evi-
dence thereof.
7. Repealing clause.

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in
General Court convened:
SECTION 1. The town clerk of every town and the city clerk
of every city in this State, shall annually, in the month of May,
obtain, and chronologically record, as required by the forms pre-
scribed in the third section of this chapter, the facts respecting
births, marriages and deaths occurring in their respective towns
