JUNE SESSION, 1819.
CHAP. I.
AN ACT for arranging and regulating the militia within this Passed July t,
0                     1819.
State, and for repealing all laws heretofore made for that
purpose.
SECTION 1. BE it enacted by the senate and house of repre-
sentatives, in general court convened, That the several laws

heretofore made for arranging, forming, and regulating the causi.
militia, be and hereby are repealed. Provided nevertheless, Proviso.
that all officers actually in commission, agreeably to the laws
which are hereby repealed, shall continue in commission in
the same manner and in the same authority they would in
case the said laws were still in force; and that all proceed-
ings done and transacted by virtue of said laws shall be good
and valid in the same manner as if said laws were not re-
pealed.
SEc. 2. And be it further enacted,
1. That the companies in the town of Portsmouth shall Ist regiment.
constitute the first regiment.
2. That the companies in the towns of Dover, Somers-2
Id regiment.
worth, Rochester, Farmington, and Milton, shall constitute
the second regiment.
3. That the companies in the towns of Hampton, North- 3d regiment.
Hampton, Hamptonfalls, Seabrook, Kensington, and South-
Hampton, shall constitute the third regiment.
4. That the companies in the towns of Exeter, New- 4thregiment.
Market, Brentwood, Poplin, and Epping, shall coustitute the
fourth regiment.
