C   H  A   P.    I.
An    ACT      to  settle and     ascertain the salary      of the members of the ]ec;d 31t of
council for the ensuing year.                                    Dec. i8o3.
EIT ENACTED, by the General Asembly ofS Maryland That each member of the council shall be Sattry ascer.
entitled to reCeive, for the ensuing year, the sum of two hundred pounds currunt'monuy for tained,
his salary.
C   H  A   P.    II.
An    ACT      for the relief of Thomas Parvin, an               insolvent debtor of De. 180to.
Frederick county.
HEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the petition of Thomas Parvin, of Preamble.
W Frederick county, that he has been for a considerable time, and now is, confined in the gaol
of said county for delts he is unable to pay: And whereas from the advanced age and infirmity of
the said Thomas Parvin, it appears reasonable that a special at of insolvency should be passed in
his favour; therefore,
II. BE IT ENACTED, by the General Assemnbly of Maryland, That on the said Thomas Parvin's appli. Chancellor, on
cation to the chancellor, by petition in writing, on or before the fourth day of June next, ofl:ring Upplcaill, to
to deliver up to the use of his creditors all his property, real, personal and mixed, (except his wear. oat'  ate
ing :pparel and bedding of himself and family,) to which he is in any way entitled, a schedule
whereof, on oath or affirmation, together with a list of his creditors, on oath or affirmation, as far
as he can ascertain them, shall be annexed to such petition, the chancellor shall administer to the
said Thomas Parvin the following oath or aflirtnation, to wit:  I, Thomas Parvin, do swear, (or
 affirm,) that I will deliver up, convey or trapl'er, to my creditors, in such manner as the chan-
 cellor shall dire&, all my property that [iid.bor claim any title to, or interest in, at this time,
64 and all debts, rights and claims, whikh'l h.iyea-vr am any way entitled to, in possession, remainder
,t or reversion, and that I have not, dire&ly.or .ndtre6lly, at any time sold, conveyed, lessened or
disposed of, for the use'of any person or pursons, or intrusted, any part of my money or other
, property, debts, rights or claims, to any person or persons, thereby to defraud my creditors, or
6 any of them, or to secure the same to receive or expet any profit, benefit or advantage thereby;
and the chancellor shall thereupon appoint such person as trustee as he may think proper; and the
trustee so to be appointed shall, hefor, he proceeds to adt, give bond to such person, in trust for the
use of the creditors of the said Thomas Parvin, and in such penalty as the said chancellor shall
direr, conditioned for the faithful discharge of the trust, which bond shall be filed in the chancery
office, and z copy thereof, certified under thc hand of the register thereof, shall be good evidence'in
any court of law or equity in this state ; and if any trustee appointed by virtue of this aS shall re-
fuse to aS, or die, or neglt:6 to giv'e bond as aforesaid in a reasonable time, to be judged of by the
chancellor, he shall appoint such person as he may think proper in his place, who shall give bond as
aforesaid, and on giving such bond, (in case the said Thomas Parvin had conveyed his property to
the former trustee,) he shall be vested with all the property of every kind, and all the debts, rights
and credits, of the said Thomas.Parvin, as completely as the former trustee was vested with the
