ON THE FIFTEENTH         DAY OF MARCHI, A.D. 172o0-
CHAPTER 148.
ORDER GRANTING ISAAC FAREWELLS PETITION FOR APPROVAL OF
PURCHASE OF INDIAN LANDS.
 the  A PETITION of Isaac Farewell, shewing that his land in the Town of
council, xi., Sutton, happens to be so laid out as to abut on the Southwest Angle
114.       of the lassanimisco Lands, and that he has no accomadable place to
noe Jprp.4  Build on near the Country Road, unless he can purchase a Small tract,
of the Hassanimisco Indians at the S Southwest Angle, that the Indians
are very willing to sell the same to the petitioner, and praying that he
may obtain the allowance and approbation: of this Court, for his pur-
chase of the Sd Tract, of Land, A plat whereof, in herewith Exhibi ~1,
the same havg been Surveyed, & Contains Eighteen Acres, for which
he is to Give Nine Pounds.
Read &
Ordered, that the prayer of this petition be Granted; and that John
Chandler Esqr be desired to take care that Justice be done to the Indians
in the purchase, and to dispose of the purchase Consideration in the best
manner he can for the Benefit of the S Indians. [Passed March 16.
CHAPTER 149.
RESOLVE ON QUESTION RESPECTG ASSESORS OF PRECINCT RATES.
Lgisiatie    UESTION; Whither that Clause in the Law Eitituled An Act directing
Councl, xi.,  how rates or Taxes to be Granted by the Generall Assembly shall be
assesed and Collected in the Words following, Viz' [j]and Such Select
House Jour.  men or assessors shall be under the like obligation of, the Oath admin-
Provinee   istred to thiem, for inaking the publick Tax, Equally and Imnpartially
Laws, 1. 406,
chiap.26; 20. to proportion, Such County or Town, Assesments by the Same Rule,'
doth Extend to all Assessors, in the proportioning, of Precinct or dis-
trict or Parish Rates or assesments, Granted or agreed on, by any Legall
Meeting, of the Inhabitants, of Such Precincts district or Parish regu-
larly Set off?
Resolved in the affirmative. [Passed farch 18.
