State Duties.

ACTS and LAWS,
Made and paffed by the Gereral Court or
Affembly of the State of Conne&icut,
holden at Hartford, (in faid State) on the
fecond Thurfday of May, Anno Domini,
1789.
An Ad, in Addition to an A&, entitled, An Ad lay-
ing a Duty in certain Cafes.
T~i7HEREXS it is reprefented to this Afembly, that fundry of the Officers.
who are byfaid A2 made Receivers offaid Ditties, have not render-
ed their Accounts, and made Payment to the Treaftrer according to
the Intent offaid AR  : To remedy which,
Be it enafled by the Governor, Council, and Reprefentatives, in General
Court affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That all the Officers,
who are by faid A& made Receivers of faid Duties, fliall render their
Accounts agreeable to faid A&1, and make Payment of the Sums that
fhall thereby appear to be due, on or before the twentieth Day of May
annually, or in Default thereof, (hall be incapable of holding or exercif-
ing the Office, by Means whereof they become Receivers of fuch Duties,
for and during the Term of one Year from and after his making Default
of Payment as aforefaid.
And be it further enatfed, That when and fo ofcen as any frlch Officer
fhall be removed by Death, or otherwife, or fliall be omitted in any Ap-
pointment on Account of his not having made fuch Payment, it fhall be
the Duty of the Treafurer to call fuch Officer, or his Executors, or Ad-
rniniftrators to account for fuch Duties, as may be or remain in their
Hands, or in the Hands of fuch Deceafed at the Time of his Death ;
and the Coft, if any, that fhall arife by Means thereof, fliall be paid by
the Perfon, or the Executor, or Adminiftrator who fhall negle&b to make
fuch Return r Payment.
