Treafoti, and other atrocious Crimes againft
the Statei

B        E it Mnailed by the Goi;ernor, Counc;l and Reprefentatives,
in General Court affembled, and by the Authority of the famei
That if any Perion, who is a citizen or fubjed of tthis
Stat   or bf any of the United States of America, refiding
within this State, and under the protction of its Laws;
4hali adhere to the Enemies of this Statel and of the faid United
S-.ates, and in any Manner afford them Aid and Comfo-t, within
this State o elfewhere; or fhall by Writing profefs or declare that
the King of reat Britain hathi or of right 6ught to, haves any
Authority or Dominion in or over this State, or the Inhabitants
thereof, or that he or they owe Allegiance to the faid King within
the fame, or thall feduce or perfuade any Inhabitant or Inhabi-
tants of this State to renounce his or their Allegiance to this State
and the government thereof, as a free and independent State, or
to Acknowledge Allegianee or Subjedion to the King or Crown
of Great Britain, and be thereof convi&edi fhall be adjudged
guilty of High Treafon againfi this State, and be put to Death.
And be it further eno~fled by the Authority aforefaid, That if any
Perlon who is a citizen or luhjedt of this State, or any'of the
United States of America, refiding within this State, and under
the prote&ion of its Laws, fliall by Words, profeis and declare,
that the King of Great Britain hath, or of right ought to have,
any Authority or Dominion in and over this State, or the Inha.
