Court or Affiembly of the State
of Conneclicut, in New-England;
in America; holden' .at Middle-
town, by Adjournment, on the i8th
Day. of December, Atnno Domini,
1776.

An A& in further Addition to an A&, entituled,
 An A& for formiog and regulating the Mili-
C tia, and for the Encouragement of Military
Skill, for the better Defence of this State.
W H E R E A S it is not only the Interefl, but the Duty of al!
Nations to defend their Lives, Liberties, and Properties againfl
the unlawful Attacks and Depredations of all Enemies whatever. And
whereas the Laws now in Force refpet~ing the regulations of the Militia,
are not fully adequate for the Purpofes aforefaid:
I! is therefore Ena,17ed by the Governor, Council, and Reprefen-
tatives in General Court ajiembled, and by the Authority of the
fame, That all the Regiments of Militia within this State,
fhall be formed into Six feveral. Brigades, as follows,
Viz.
The firft fhall confift of, and include within the fame, the firft,
fixth, nineteenth, and twenty-fecond Regiments of Militia, and Ihall
be called the firft Brigacle.
That the fecond fhall confift of and include the fecond, feventh,
tenth, and twenty-third Regiments of Militia, and fliall be. called
the fecond Brigade.
That the third fliall confift of and include the third,-eighth,
twentieth, and twenty-fifth Regiments of Militia, and be called the
third Brigade.
That the fourth flhall confift of and include the fourth, ninth,
thirteenth, and fixteenth Regiments of Militia, and be called the
fourth Brigade.
That the fifth fliall confift of and include the fifth, eleventh,
twelfth, and twenty-firft Regiments of Militia, and be called the
fifth Brigade.
