Preamblo      Whereas it has been represented to tle general assembly, that
Sarah T. 'hornton, relict of Dr. Riclard Thornton of the county of
Halifax, is possessed of a life estate in certain slaves received by her
as dower from the estate of her saidf husband, and that said Sarah T.
Thornton wishes to remove said: slaves to the county of Granville,

Coty court to  1. Be it enacted by tho general assembly, that the coun.ty or cir-
a   orf rve cuit court of the county of Halifiax shall have- power, upon the peii-
tion of the said Sarah T. Thornton; to authorize her to remove said
slaves to the said county of Granville, in such manner and upon such
Provlso     terms as to the said court may seem proper: provided, that before
such removal, a list of all the slaves to I)c removed, containing a de-
scription thereof, shall be filed in the clerk's office of the court autho-

livery of said slaves and their increase, at her death, to the persons
