an equitable allowance to George Duffey, late commissioner of the
revenue for the city and county of Alexandria, for assessments in the
y~ar eighteen hundred and sixty-onc, assuming as a basis the assess-
mont for the year eighteen hundred and sixty, and to issue his war-
rant on the treasury, payable out of any money therein not otherwise
appropriated, in favor of said Duffey, or his legal representatives, for
the sum so ascertained.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.            Commencement

of Caroline County.

1. Be it enacted by tie general assembly, that the governor of Aniount appro.
the commonwealth be and he is hereby authorized and directed to priated
sell and deliver to John Washington of Caroline county, a slave
named Richard, formerly belonging to said Washington, who has
been lately convicted of grand larceny, in the hustings court of
Richmond city, and condemned to be transported without the limits
of the United States: provided the said Washington shall first pay
all the costs of the prosecution of said slave, and relinquish all claim
against the commonwealth for his value, and shall also enter into a
proper bondi conditioned immediately to sell said slave beyond the
limits of this commonwealth.

1. Be it enacted by tie general assembly, that the anditor of Amount appro-
public accounts be and ho is hereby directed to issue his warrant on prlated
the treasury, to 1e paid out of any money not otherwise appropriated,
in favor of E. J. Buckwalter of Bedford, for the sum of one hundred
and eighty-six dollars and thirty cents; and also to issue his warrant
upon tle treasury, to 1e paid in like nanner, in favor of William 11.
Pate of said county, for the sum of sixteen dollars and ninety-five
cents; they being the amunts duo them, respectively, for impri-
soning and keeping' certain negro convicts hired to Rosser & Co. on
the public works, who escaped from service, were apprehended as
runaways, and confined iii th1 jail of Bedford county.
