held on their lands in Boone county, Virginia, in May last
(eighteen hundred and fifty-nine), ratified and confirmed
all said acts done at previous meetings of stockholders:
And whereas it is doubted whether the same conform to
the provisions of the law : Therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, that the acts natIication.
of the said subscribers and stockholders, in the particulars
aforeshid, be and the same are hereby ratified and con-
firmed, and that the rights of the stockholders in this re-
spect be confirmed.
2. This act shall be in three from and after its acrcep- Commencement
tance by the stockholders of said company.
CHAP. 424.-An ACT authorizing the Coal River Navigation Coin-
pany to Condemn Lands overllowcd by reason of their Darns.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, canrivernavi.

that when damage may arise to laud on Coal river and its macy ondemn
land,.
tributaries, from the overflowing of the waters or other-
wise, such damage being occasioned by the navigation
works of the said company, the same shall be assessed
and paid in the manner required in chapter firty-six of the
Code of Virginia, for assessing and condemning lands,
and the amendments thereto, varying the forms of the
proceedings as the nature of the case may require. But Use orlands.
in case of condemnation of any lands under this act, tie
said Coal river navigation company shall only have the
right of using the lands so condemned for purposes of the
navigation of said Coal river.
2. This act shall be in force from its passage.     Commencement
