scribed by metes and bounds, hearings and distances in a survey and plat
made by William Slaughter, dated the tenth day of December oightoeen
hundred and fifty, and heretofore deposited in the clerk's office of the
corporation court of the said town. By the said plat the said town, as
enlarged by the act of seventeen hundred and fifty-nine, is described by
the letters E, F, G, I; the line horehy adopted and made the boun-
dary line of said town by this act, is described by the letters A, B, C, D.
The said plat is to be filed in the clerk's office of the corporation court
of Fredericksburg, and shall be held as evidence of the boundary of said
Subhectto by. town as hereby extended and enlarged. Anad the said land so taken into
laws and state the limits, and included within the boundaries of said town, shall be and
laws.      the same is hereby made a part of the town of Frederieksburg, and sub-
ject to the same by-laws, rules and regulations, as if the same had been
included within the original limits thereof, and shall be subject to the
pVrovisions and enactments of all such acts of the general assembly of
irginia as have from time to time been passed for and concerning the
said town and its inhabitants since the same was established as a town.
Commencement. 3. This act shall be in force from its passage.

Town of Frede-  1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the white inhabitants of
rlcksburg Incor- the town of Fredericksburg in the county of Spotsylvania, as established
porated.    and enlarged by several acts of the general assem Ily heretofore passed,
and their successors, shall, onl and after the second Monday in March
next, be a corporation by the name of The Town of Fredericksburg ;
and the fifty-fourth and fifty-sixth chapters of the Code of Virginia shall
be applicable to the said corporation and the council of said town, so far
rroperty of  as may be consistent with this act. Especially shall the said corporation
town.       have power to purchase, take, receive, hold and nse goods and chattels,
lands and tenements, and choses in action, or any interest, right or estate
therein, either for the proper use of said town, or in trust for the benefit
of any persons or associations therein, and the same to grant, sell, con-
voy, transfer and assign, lot, pledge, mortgage, charge and encumber, in
any case, and in any manner in which it would be lawful for a private
individual so to do.

fourth and fifth of the one hundred and fifty-seventh chapter of the Code
of Virginia shall be applicable to said court, so far as they are consistent
with this act.

s1aco of one mile on the south side of Rappahannock river, without and
around said town, including so much of said river to low water mark on
tihe shore of the county of Stafford, as shall lie between two lines drawn
due east from the northern and southern terminations of the one mile
aforesaid, for matters arising within the same, according to the laws of
the commonwealth. And any presentment made in said court, by a
grand jury, for an offence committed within the jurisdiction of said court,
may be prosecuted in said court, and like proceedings had thereon as in
the county court of Spolsylvania.
