And thereupon the said county or corporation court shall make an conpensatlon t,
allowance of two dollars per diem to tie said commissioner, or as- cihtil. mader,
sistant commissioner of tile revenue, as the case may be: Provided u.....wad.
however, That the allowance thus made shall not exceed in the ag-
gregatc tile amount authorized by law to be paid to commissioners of
time revenue for the several counties and corporations of this common-
wealth : And provided furtiher, That the auditor of public accounts
shall not be authorized in any case to pay any commissioner or as-
sistant commissioner of the revenue, any allowance made to them, un-
less the provisions of this act have been strictly complied with.
5. Be it further enacted, That if any commissioner of the reve- coanmisloners
nue shall take any list of property from any person, without having t, stlr Mier-
first sworn or affirmed such person as required by law, except whenll
such person shall refuse to swear or affirm, he shall be liable to pay Penalty for fall-

CHrtr. 5.-An ACT increasing the compensation of the commissioners of the
revenue for the county of Lee.
(Passed February 211848.]

CHAP. 6.-An ACT appropriating the public revenue.
[Passed April 4, 1848.]
1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the public taxes ceneral fund.

not otherwise appropriated, and all other branches of revenue, and
all public moneys not otherwise appropriated by law, which shall
come into the treasury prior to the first day of October next, and tile
surplus of all appropriations heretofore made, shall constitute a gene-
ral fund, and be appropriated as follows, to wit : To the expenses ofApproprlatloni to
the general assenbly, one hundred thousand dollars; to the salaries legislature.
