thirty-six, and which recognizance was forfeited, and judgment
rendered thereon against the said James Powell; and also from any
liability growing out of any subsequent proceedings upon the re-
cognizance aforasaid.
2. This act Lhall be in force from the passing thereof.  Commencement.
ChAP. 275.-An ACT concerning Albert G. Watkins.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That the second audi- rino rerunded to

Louisa, for the sum of sixty dollars, the amount of two fines im-
posed upon him by the county court of Albemarle, at its March

paid, for keeping a tavern without license; to be paid to the said
Albert G. Watkins, or his representative, out of any money in the
literary fund not otherwise appropriated.
2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.  Commencement.

Whereas it is represented to the general assembly, that Emma, Preamble,.
a woman of colour, residing in the county of Washington, was a
slave, the property of her husband Burk, late of the said county,
who died intestate, leaving no heirs, or next of kin capable in law,
of taking his estate, in consequence thereof the same will pass to
the commonwealth, for the benefit of the literary fund ; and the
said Emma having petitioned the general assembly for relief in this
behalf: Therefore,
