CHAP. 275.-An ACT allowing Judy Johnson, a free woman of colour, to re-
main in the commonwealth.

Jtly Johrnson po.  1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Judy Johnson, a
mittod to roman free woman of colour, shall be, and she is hereby permitted to re-
main as a free person within this commonwiealth, and to reside in
the county of Fairfax: Provided however, That if the said Judy
Johnson shall hereafier be convicted by the verdict of a jury, or
the judgment of a court, of any offence against the laws of this
commonwealth, tile privilege hereby granted shall thenceforth cease.
Commencement.  2. This act shall be in force from tile passage thereof.
CIIAI. 276.-An ACT concerning Ann, a free woman of colour.

Ann nhlowed to  1. Be it enacted b/ the general assembly, That Ann, a woman of
renlnin in state, colour, lately emancipated by  Villimn Fulleton, shall be, and she
is hereby permitted to remain as a free person within this common-
wealth, and to reside in the county of Cabell : Provided, That if
the said Ann shall hereafter be convicted by the verdict of a jury,
or the judgment of a court, of any offence against the laws of this
commonwealth, the privilege hereby granted shall cease.
Cornmencement.  2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.
CHEAr. 277.-An ACT allowing Daniel Starks, a free man of colour, to remain
in tile commonwealth a limited time.

niel Statrk, to  1. Be it enacted by the general eissembly, That with the view of
reii isted tho  enabling Daniel Starks, a man of colour, lately emancipated, who
is a resident of the county of Fairfax, to make ar.angements for
the removal of himself out of the commonwealth, permission is
hereby granted to the said Daniel to remain within this common-
wealth, and to reside in the county of Fairfax, for the term of tbree
years, unmolested, but no longer; and if at any time within that
period, the county court of the said county of Fairfax, shall see
cause to order the said Daniel to depart the commonwealth, they
shall have full power so to order, and thenceforth the leave of resi-
dence hereby granted shall cease and determine.
Conmmencement.  2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.
Ci.&P. 278.-An ACT allowing Lucy anti Delila, free persons of colour, to re.
main in the commonwealth.

Lacy ani Dolila  1. Be it enacted by the general assembly, That Lucy and Delila,
illta, tto.   free persons of colour, residents of the county of Washington, shall
be, and they are hereby permitted to remain in this commonwealth,
and to reside in the said county of Washington : Provided however,
That if the said Lucy and Delila, or either of them, shall hereafter
be convicted by the verdict of a jury, or the judgment of a court,
of any offence against the laws of this comnmonwealth, the privilege
herein granted shall thenceforth cease, as to the one or both against
whom such conviction may be had.
Oonimneaecnt.  2. This act shall be in force from the passing thereof.
