spect, as is prescribed in the next preceding seiition; such lotsand 
parts of lots as have been heretofore laid'off on the lands of the
estate of Judith Randolphi,.and not sold-, and the said committee of
St. George Randolph 'shall be atcountable for the proceeds of such
sale or sales as herein before prescribed.
Further extension  5. Be it farther enacted, That the corporate limits of the town
or town.   of Farmville in the county aforesaid, shall be extended so as'to in-
clude within the same not cinly the' lands hereby atthorized to be laid
off and sold as, town lots of the estates of the persons of unsound
minds as aforesaid, but also all such hinds as have been heretofore
Llbllityof  laid off or sold, as lots adjoining said tovn by other persons.. And
ownors of tot&  all lots or lands, so included within the corporate linmits of said
town, together' with the persons owning or occupying the'same,
shall be subject, together with tJuiir property, to the by-laws, rules
and regulations of said corporation in'the same manner as if the
said lots and land had been included -within the original corporate
boundaries of said town.
Commencement.  6. This act shall be in farce from the passing thereof.
CuAP. 240.-An ACT appointing'trusteee to the town of New Glasgow, and
for other purposes.

Preamble.    'Whereas it has been represented to the present general assembly,
that all the trustees for-the town of New Glasgow,'in the coun'ty of
Amherst, are either dead or removed : For remedy thereof,
Trustees rin Now ,. Be it enacted by the general. assembly, That Robert Sangster,
Glasgow appoint- William S. Crawford, Lewis Emmell, Samuel M. Garland, Warner
ed.        'Jones, George Calloway, Johil S. Kyle, Edward. A. Cabell and Wil-
liam H. Tyler, shall be, and they are hereby appointed trustees for
the said town, a majority of. whom shall constiute a board for the
transaction of business.
oatih o trustees.  2. Be it further enacted, That the said trustaes, and their suic-
cessors, beforie'entering.on the duties of their office, shall make oath
or solemn affirmation before some justice of the peace for the county
of Amherst, that they will faithfully and impartially execute the du-
ties of- their office to the best of their skill and judgment.
President appoint-. 3. The said trustees, or a majority 'of them, shall appoint a pre-
edl.        sident from their own body, who'shall continue in office during plea-

Biy.laws ordained. .4. The said trustees shall have power and authority to make by-
laws and ordinances for regulating the police of the said' town, and
to alter and amend them at pleasure,.and the same to enforce by
reasonable fines, not exceeding five dbllars for any one offene, re-
coverable with cost befire any justiceof the peace within the said
county : Provided always, That theordinances and by-laws be not
inconsistent with the laws and constitution of this stateor that of
the United States.

tots,       authority to abate nuisances or 6ause it to be done'at the expense
of those who occasion them; to itnprove their streets, foot-ways,
- alleys and watering places; to license and regulate shows and pub-
lic exhibitions; to prohibit horse .racing and shooting of guns in
the sireets, and to prohibit from running at largo mischievous and
dangerous animals, to the annoyance of the inhabitants, under rea-
