CirAP. 2260,-An ACT allowing Moses, a free man of colour, to remain i' the
commonwealth.
(Plaosed March , 185.)
1. Be it enacted by the general asscmbly, That Moses, a man Ofh 'oseallowedto
colour, a resident of the county of Bedford, emancipated by the will remain II statO.
of Lewis Chastain, shall be, and he is hereby permitted to remain
as a free person within this commonwealth, and to reside in the
said county of Bedford: Provided, That if the said Moses shall
hereafter he convicted by the verdict of a jury or the judgment of
a court, of any offence against the laws of this commonwealth, the
privilege hereby granted shall cease.
2. This act shall be in force fior its passage.             Commencement.

commonwealth.

1. Be it enacted by the general assembly of Virginia, That Ry- flylanm allowed to
land, a man of colour, lately emancipated by Thomas Ford of the mmn In state.
county of Prince Edward, shall he, and he is hereby permitted to
remain as a free person in this commonwealth, and to reside in the
said county of Prince Eldward : Provided, That if the said Ryland
shall hereafter be convicted by the verdict of a jury or the judg-
ment of a court, of any offence against the laws of this common-
wealth, the privilege hereby granted shall cease.
