CnAr. 230.-An ACT for the relief of Edward L. Tabb.

Piles released to  1. le it enacted by the general assentbly, That the two fines of
Edward L. rl'nbh. six hundred dollars each, assessed in the general court, at its last
term, against Edward L. Tabb, late clerk or the superior and
county courts of Mecklenburg county, on account of his fiilure to
pay the taxes on law process, be, and the same arc hereby released,
Condition.  on the condition, that the said Tabb shall, on or before thu fifteenth
day of' December next, pay, or cause to be paid into the treasury,
the amount of the said taxes on law process, now appearing due on
the books of the auditor of public accounts, for the years eighteen
hundred and thirty and eighteen hundred and thirty-one.
Commencemrnct.  2. This act shall be in fbrce from its passage.
CuAi. 31.-An ACT providing for the payment of certain claims to Edinunds
Mason and Williamson Pair.

Preamble.     Whereas, thirty-two negro slaves were apprehended during the
insurrection in Southampton in the year eighteen hundred and
thirty-one, by the military forces called out to suppress it, and com-
imitted under military orders to the jail of Greensville county, where
they were detained an aggregate period of two hundred and one
days before they were released, for which the jailor's account for
receiving, dieting and releasing the said prisoners, would be seven-
ty-nine dollars and eighty cents; and whereas the superior court of
law and chancery for the county of Greensville, authorized the pay-
inent of nineteen dollars and live cents only of the said account, as
applicable to two of the said prisoners, who were prosecuted by the
civil authorities on charges of felony, but rejected sixty dollars and
seventy-five cents, the residue of the said account, there being no
law existing authorizing such allowance to the jailor in cases of'
commitment by military authority ; and whereas Williamson Pair
of said county, who guarded the said prisoners while in jail, seven
days, has failed to receivw his account of five dollars and twenty-
five cents, for tie sanie reason :

dollars and seventy-five cents ; ano the said Williamson Pair of the
said county, shall be allowed the sum of five dollars and twenty-five
cents, the amount of his account aforesaid ; fbr which several sums
the auditor of public accounts is hereby authorized and required
to issue his warrant on the treasury, in fiavour of the said Edmunds
Allason and Williamson Pair, to be paid to them respectively, out of
any money therein not otherwise appropriated.
Commeneoment.  2. This act shall b in force from its passage.
CuAP. 232.-An ACT concerning Joseph Rutherford, of the county of Cabell.

Preamble.     Whereas, it is represented to the general assembly, that Joseph
Rutherford, of the county of Cabell, was recognized in the sum of
one hundred dollars to appear as a witness in the superior court of
law for said county, at the May term of eighteen hundred and thirty-
