ill health, and that he is now old, decrepid, and in distress :
Sum allowed forp re.  1. Be it therefore enacted, That he is hereby authorized to re-

Whereas it is represented to the General Assembly, from the
petition and documents of Joseph Me Quown, that lie was a sol-
dier in the campaign of one thousand seven hundred and seventy
seven, against the 1ndians, on the Ohio river; that afterwards he
volunteered and marched to the relief of Donnally's fort, and
contributed to relieve the garrison, and engaged occa.sionally as
a militia-man during the revolutionary war ; that he is now poor
and unable to labour:
1. lie it therefore enacted, Tha±t he shall be placed on the pen-
sion list, and receive fifty dollars annually, and paid as other pen-.
sioners are paid.
2. This act shall he in force from the passing thereof.

treatble.       Whereas it is represented to the General Assembly, from the
petition of James, (alias James La Fayette,) that during the revo-
lutionary war lie was a slave, the property of the late William
Armistead. of New Kent county ; tiat he solicited and obtained
the consent of his master to .joims in the service of the French
forces under the connand of general De La Fayette ; that tile
services he rendered were considered of such importance to the
country, that in the year 1786 lie was emancipated by an act of
the Virginia legislature ; and that lie is now poor and unable to
help hiulself:

public accounts is required to issue a warrant on the treasury, to
him or his representative, frir the same.

rtconmbl.       Whereas it is represented to the General Assembly, by Jere-
miah lFranklin, that he went lately on a visit to his father, of the
county of Surry, in North Carolina, who gave to the said Jeremni-
ah, a negro boy named Wesley, about ten years old, whom the
said Jeremiah brought to his place of residence, in the county of
Amherst, where he now remains : and the said Jeremiah having
petitioned the Legislature to be permitted to retain the said slave
as his iroperty in this Commonwealth :

,utharized to hold in he is hereby authorized and empowered to hold the said negro boy
