he emigrated to this country froir Ireland : That, at the October
tormighteen hundred and sixti-0n Of the court of said town, he
made a declaration on oath, accCrdfng to the act of Congress, of
lis intention to become a citizen of tlhe United States; that, be-
lieving  he c~ould, after the said. declaration, lawfully hiid real
estate, he, during last year, ciritracted for the purchase of two
lots, o'i land in said town ; whizh contract has not as yet been ex-
ecuted, in consequence of his bhing informed by counsel that he
could not ftold lands in this colmt,'y; anti the said John M. Ryan
having peoitioned the legislature :o authorize him to hold the said
lands upon condition of his hUcoming a citizen so soon as lie can
be admited legally so to do ; o', should death frustrate this in-
tention, then that the said lauds may descend to his infant chil-
dron, sutject to the dower of thmir mother :

zen o' the United States, that-'the said lots of land shall descend'
and p ass to the children (,f dhe said Ryan, subject, however, to
the d ower of their mother therein.
2. This act shall be in force from the passage thereof.   commencement.

Whereas it is represented to the General Assembly of Virginia, rreamte.
that Frances . Tucke', in the course of the last year, brought
with her, on a visit to her friends in Virginia, as ai attendant, a
female slave named Sally, from the island of Bermuda ; that, un-
derstanding sihe could legally retain the said slave twelve months
within the limits of this Commonwealth, before the expiration ot
tht time she sent her to the State of North Carolina, where sh e
now is : that she sustains considerable inconvenience on account
of the loss of her services ; for remedy whereol; •

CIJAPTEIt CLX.-An act establishing an inspcction of tobacco and flour
in the town of Lawrence in the county of Franklin.
(Passed March 3rd, 1819.)
