CHAPTEIICXCL---An kct concerning David Honter.
WHEREAS it appears to the General Assembly, that David lion- Prrumube.
ter, clerk of the cou nty court ni Berkeley, was fined by the general
court, on motion, in tile sum of six hundred dollars with thirty
three dollars and sixty one cents costs. for failing to account for
and pay into th(e treasury, in due time. the taxes received by him
oo law process, ordinary licenses, and other taxes receivable by him
as clerk of the county aforesaid, fromo the first day of September
e agacen hundred ,and fifteen to the first day of September cigh-
teen hundred and siheen, in consequence of not being able to
coilect money receivable at the treasury ; and it also appearing
to tile General Assembly that the said David Hrunter hath since,
to wit, upon the ninth day of November 1817, paid to the sheriff
of said coulty the whole amuount of the execution issued for said
fine With costs and touimissions ; and that the Auditor still holds
tile said David Hunter responsible for the taxes aforesaid in con-
formity to the account rendered :

dinary purposes of the Revenue.

year eighieei hiundred and sevell, cause to bb exported froin this
State to tile State of Temlnessee a negro man slave of bad chatrac-
ter, and there exchangcd for another iegro, who, froln his good
character ai kmiowledge ol the carpeter's trade, is particularly
valuable to the said Ganniewav ; that the said Ganneway acquir-
ed iitle to the said last mentioted slave previous to the passage of
the law prollibiling tile introduction o(slaves into this Comilon-
wealth; but, fronm circllllstamCes which lie could not control, le
was unable to bring the said slave into this State belbre the Ias-
age of' tile said law ; and tile said  - anneway having rayed of
iLh Lvegislature permission to bring the said slave intothis state;
