master Robert Godwiu by his last will made hine sundry h1e..

of principal. as, kogelther with its interest, siould p. ovide fAr
his support in his old age, and that die suut of money required
as aforesaid has been already raised;

W      HEREAS, it is represented to the Gcncral Assembl
by Jacob, a man or colour, or the County of Fairlx,
that previous to the passage of the Act prohibiting per'sois of
colour thereafter emancipated from remaining in this Vow.
331onwealIh, his then inasler, Nathan Wheeler, promised to
cmancipate him upon condition that lie should pay to his said
)mster the sum or fifty.six pounds five shillings ; which con.
dition has been complied with ; but the said sum was not ful.
ly paid until after the passage of the Act aforesaid ;
1. Be it lherefore enaceld, That when the said Jacob nhall
have been regularly emaneipated. he shall be, and is hereby
permitted to remain as a free person within this Commou-
wealth, and to have and enjoy all the rights and privileges
which other free persons of colour possess and enjoy within
the same ; any. law to the contraTy TIOtMI1ihslnding.
