NNFIER    AS it is represented to the General Assembly by Ar. Preambl.

diction ot Maryland, vo:ti:lg pai'tll Of main lirud on the Poto-
anek river, and partly o'an iland in the said river; that, having
llaecdl his hnegrops on the said Island, they were employed in his
servi,.o alternately oil the said mnain laud of'Maryland, on the Ish-
'auid, and in this state ; that he hai now diipo.icd of the said Isl:nd
and tie land on the Maryland shiore, and is desirous of bringing
his said slaves back to reside in this state, v hereof they are all na-
tives except those born upon the said Island ;-
1. BC it thereufore enactedi That it shall be laiyful for the said Armistead long
Arntistuad Long to bring back into this state, all the slaves b- errmitted to
longing to lim and situatcd as is above set forth, being twenty thli sta,',e 22
two in number including those born upon the said Island, and to stlavej frum Mas
hold them as his property within this commonwealth, in tha same ryltuid.
