ta e   n   and permitted, without inctirring an% penalty or forleiture in
cons  quence thereof, to hold as his property within this com-
monwcrlth, a certain slavc named Jack, who in the year one
thousand eight hundred and five, runaway fi'om thu said John S.
Smith, previous to his removal from Maryland into this state;
the said Smith having as to other Ohves taken the oadi requir-
ed, and within the time prtiscribed by law, and also declared on
oath hit int.ntioln to have hriought with hii tle said slave Jack,
wh, since flou removal as aforesaid of the said 5inth, hath beth
recivered and is now in his possession.
Commencement   2. This .tnc shall he in force from the passing thereof.
