CHAPTER LVI.
AN ACT to amend An Act to do Justice and render persons of African
and Indian descent competent witnesses in the Courts of this State,
passed January 25, 1806; and also to amend an Act to repeal Sec-
tions 2728 and 2729, Article 5, Chapter 7 of the Code of Tennessee,
passed January 26, 1866.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
State of Tennessee, That an act to do justice and to render
persons of African and Indian descont competent witnesses
in the Courts of this State, passed January 25, 1866, and
To take effect. also an act to repeal Sections 2728 and 2729, 'Article
5, Chapter 7, of the Code of Tennesssee, passed January
25, 1866, be, and they are hereby so amended, as to take
effect from and after the passage of this act.

CHAPTER LVII.
AN ACT to Change the time of holding the Chancery Courts of
Lawrence County.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
State of Tennessee, That hereafter the Chancery Courts
of: Lawrence County shall be holden on the third Mon-
days in April and October, and all process shall be re-
turnable at that time.
SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the Commissioner
Vom'sioner of of Registration, to be appointed by the Governor for the
Registration. county of Shelby, for the registration of voters, under the
act passed May 3, 1866, be, and is hereby authorized to
open and keep his office in the city of Memphis, in said
county, for said purpose of registration. And this act to
take effect from and after its passage.
