SEc. 50. Be it enacted. That this act shall take effect
from and after its passage.

CHAPTER 206.
AN ACT for the Benet of James Mitchell, and for other purposes.
Whereas, By the existing laws of this State no pro-
vision exists for the compensation of Jailors for keeping
slaves imprisoned f6r felony; and whereas, Isham, a
slave of Mrs. Gillespic, was confined in the jail of Jef-
ferson County, from the twenty-ninth day of June, 1852,
to the second day of September, 1853, and was after-
wards kept in said prison from the time of his sentence
until his execution, therefore,
SEcTroN 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the
State of Tennessee, That the Comptroller is hereby
authorized to issue his warrant to James Mitchell, for
the sum of two hundred dollars, being the amount of
jail fees due said Mitchell.
SEC. 2. BC it further enacted, That the Treasurer of
the State be, and he is hereby, authoriized to pay, on the o orJames A
warrant of the Comptroller, to James A.- Whiteside, Whiomslde.
Commissioner from Tennessee to Georgia, under reso-
lation of the Legislature 'of 3d March, 1854, the mileage
and per diem allowed by law to a presiding oflicer of
either branch of the Legislature, for. the time he was
engaged in the discharge of his duties as Commissioner.
SEC. 3. Bc it further enacted, That the Comptroller
of the Treasury issue his warrant upon the Treasurer,
to David R. Johnson, late Sheriff and Tax-collector of Davad n Johb-
the County of Greene, for the sum of eighty-two dollars  son.
and eighty cents, being an amount improperly paid into
the Treasury on the State tax of Greene County, for the
year 1852: Provided, the same has not been refunded
back to said Johnson.
SEC. 4. Be it further enacted, That the further time
