CHAPTER CCXLlV.
AN  ACT to charter the Lexington and Knoxville Hailrond Company, and  for other
lnrpoiuS.
SECTION 1. Be it 7Cacted by /thC GCncral Asscnbly of the
State of Tenncsscc, 'I'hat for the purpose of establish- Inworporatin
ing a communication by railroad, between the cities of
Lexington, Kentucky, and Knoxville, Tennessee, the
formation of a company to be called the Lexington
and Knoxville Railroad Company, is lierebyauthorized,
which when formed, shall have corporate existence in
each of the States aforcsaid.
Sec. 2. Ie it cnacted, That said company shall have
the power to run said road from any other town or
point in Kentuchy, which may he nearer to Knoxville
than Lexington  Provided, Said town or point has
immediate railroad connection with Lexington.
S. 3. Bc it enacted, TIat M1. Houston, lenry Coniine,.
Gralai, Wi. Kincaid, Hugh Jones, Isaac 'Thomas
and Daniel II Lflf, of' the county of' Claiborne; Hichard
Wh(er, R1obert Morrow, \m Carey ani Jolin Ki-
caid, of' the county of Campbell; John Jaiagin, Mil-
ton Tate, John1 Wlitson lnd1( Will. Cross, of the County
of Aiidei'son, and tamu11el 1. Boyd, PIX  Dickinlsoni,
James Velckei, Charles Coflin aiid David A. Dealerick,
of the county of' Kiinox ; and Allen I[ist and .11111 Wi 1-
lard of' the county of' Gaing, togethici with such
other persons as Inay he appointed by law ill the State
of Kentucky, be and they are hereby appointed con-
missioners to open books for subscritios of stock in
said rilroad company, at such times and places as they
may designate nwl :ppoinit, an1d iiiay appoint :an1d cmi-
ploy agents for this ln-pose, anid any two of' said com-
missionelrs ini each county, .hiall be hully compewtint to
act in the preiises, and on eicl share subscribed, shall
demand and i'e'eiVe one dolhM', without which the sub-
scription shall be void.
Sec. 4. B it (nact-d, 'That said conmissioners may
keep iiid books open until the first of November next,oiensoo.
and at that time, they Siall inake a report of' the
amonunt of' stock so bscribed in saIid corinm >ny to a cen-
tral commission, to be composed of' Charles Collin and
David A. Deadeiick of Tenincssee, and such other per- Cni cow-
sons appointed by law in Kentucky, -who shall meet at
such point and time as they or a majority of' them may
agree upon, and it at the time of meeting aforesaid,
fifteen thousand shares of stock shall have been sub-
scribed, the said subscribers of the stock, shall form a
